AccountingZoom’sTM journey began two decades ago with our founder, Larry Michaels, EA. What started as a traditional tax and accounting office quickly revealed a common problem: many entrepreneurs were forming their businesses on their own, without the guidance needed to do it correctly. We spent too much time fixing avoidable mistakes, reorganizing paperwork, and untangling compliance issues that could have been prevented from day one.
Back then, every formation request was handled in the old-fashioned way. Orders were taken over the phone, logged by hand, filed carefully in cabinets, and payments were prepared with handwritten checks to the state. It wasn’t glamorous but it was precise. Every detail mattered, because every business mattered.
We were a small, determined team of entrepreneurs helping other entrepreneurs. We understood the pressure, the uncertainty, and the excitement of starting something new because we were living it, too.
